Talking to Rally Users (Students)
MakadyFor the last couple of weeks I've worked on attracting students who might like startups through Rally Society to expand my network. I've attracted them by doing info sessions in lectures. I've only attracted about 20 teams till now and most of them are 1 person teams. Now I'm bored of doing these info sessions and I wanna talk to them more.
I felt like they didn't really get what I'm trying to communicate using these info sessions.
Students Problems
This was the first type of questions, the second type of questions was by people who didn't even understand the questions in the google form when they tried to apply. the questions in the form divided into two types, (1) questions about the idea, and (2) questions about the team members. I don't think they had a problem with the questions about the team members because it only contained their phone numbers and ids (which I think they should’ve included more questions about the team members because now I don't know if it's a good team if their idea was bad). So i think their problem was with the questions about the idea questions. and that's because I've done the info sessions for level 1 computer science students and most of them don't even know what startup means. so they get stuck in front of questions like: what's the name of your startup or What is the problem / Market Pain you see?
My plan for this week is talking to the students more and solving their problems before continuing doing outreach next week. i wanna do this cuz talking to users (in this case students) is like creating an app and seeing the happy feedback, it fuels me. So I wanna help students improve their ideas or think of new ones and this will fuel me and will take advantage of their questions to improve the outreach of the next week.
Helping Students
The only students I have contact with are the ones who have already applied, some ideas are promising, some are not that good, and some are not communicated well. so I'm intending to create a WhatsApp group of all these Rally Egypt applicants to communicate with them and try to help them as much as I can.
I will try to help them (1) find and evaluate their ideas and (2) understand the form questions.
I will first provide some resources like these below:
But the problem with these is that I don't think they'll understand even 1%, so i need more simplified material or maybe simplify some material for them.
So my next step is probably creating an Arabic document that answers all their idea related and form related questions, and I can maybe turn it into a video or a WhatsApp voice note later
In addition to this I'll dm students with not the best application to help them improve their response by discussing their ideas with them and what the points of improvements I see
